It's hard to believe that its been five years since
I started Summit Design. During that time, there have been some lean
times, some busy times, and even a period where I took a full-time
position with another firm when things were very slow. I have also (and continue) to work with other design firms when the opportunity makes sense for everyone involved.
you may know, my business leads generally come from referals and word
of mouth. As such, my website is, shall we say, back-burnered (and a bit
old-school, obviously.) In any case, I had some time and wanted to make
some updates. This is part of that effort.
SDS is a one-man operation. I have a network of independent
engineers across a wide dsciplinary range that I work with on a regular
basis. Over the last few years, that network has grown,
and I've been fortunate to have worked with some very knowledgable
folks. This approach works well and allows us to provide specific
services to our clients, while allowing me to maintain a low overhead.
This approach means that I can concentrate on the technical
aspects and client needs for the projects that I am supporting, rather
than having to devote a large ammount of time looking for work. In
addition, I can pull in top-notch resources as needed, while charging a
lower rate than many full-service design firms.
am still based in Pascoag, RI (near CT and MA) and maintain a home
office and lab. This location allows access to just about anywhere in
Southern New England. Of course, these days, clients are just as likely
to be across the country, as across town. The technology available
for colaboration and meetings make being in the same physical space
unecessary in most cases.
hope in the fall to make it to some of the trade shows, so keep your
eyes open and say hello. It's been far too long since I have seen
many of the great folks I have worked with over the years.
I indicated above, my leads come primarily from referals, so please
keep SDS in mind when you talk to folks that require some engineering
Thank you and enjoy the rest of the summer.
